We believe that every Christian has been called to join in God's mission for the world. That may lead some of us to the far corners of the earth. Far more of us, though, live out that calling by asking the simple question: "What is God doing in my neighborhood/workplace/school?"
Answering that question has propelled us out into our community and the world in a variety of ways. We currently support about 30 different missions--some local, some national and some international. We also have regular opportunities to serve in various capacities in our community. Below you'll find a sample of those missions.
Mission Day - As we kicked off the fall together we spent a Saturday morning serving our community in the name of Jesus at various sites: beautifying Washington School, serving at Oasis, and interacting with residents at the Christian Health Care Center.
Food Pantry - Partnering with Northside Community CRC we store, pack, and deliver food to help feed the hungry in north Paterson, NJ.
Giving Garden - Our Giving Garden exists to provide Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children with fresh vegetables in order to feed the hungry. We tend and harvest the produce here at WRC and deliver it to Oasis in Paterson. Help is always needed planting, watering, and picking!
Paterson Habitat for Humanity – For more than a decade we have raised funds to build affordable homes in Paterson as one of Habitat’s largest church supporters. Our pastors and members have also helped build Habitat homes on various build days.
Mission Trips – Every year our high school youth spend a week following Jesus by serving those who are in need. We also have occasional mission trips for adults.
Walk-in Dinners – Every other month we cook and serve meals for about a hundred people at the Hackensack homeless shelter through Family Promise.
There are of course the usual in-house opportunities to serve: teaching, repairs, singing, visiting, calling, driving, planting...
There are many other hands-on activities at The Wyckoff Reformed Church for people to use their gifts and abilities. All are welcome to come and serve God alongside us.
