Proverbs 22-24 -
A sterling reputation is better than striking it rich; a gracious spirit  is better than money in the bank...the payoff for meekness and Fear-of God is plenty and honor and a satisfying life...

Point your kids in the right direction--when they’re old they won’t be lost...
Generous hands are blessed hands because they give bread to the poor... God loves the pure-hearted and well-spoken; good leaders also delight in their friendships...

I’m giving you 30 sterling principles---tested guidelines to live by.  Believe me--these are truths that work, and will keep you accountable to those who sent you.

Don’t hang out with angry people; don’t keep company with hotheads,,,
Don’t gamble on the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...
Don’t stealthily move back the boundary lines staked out long ago by your ancestors

Give yourselves disciplined instructions; open your ears to tested knowledge...
Don’t be afraid to correct your young ones...
Dear Child, if you become wise, I’ll be one happy parent

Wise conversation is way over the head of fools; in a serious discussion they haven’t a clue...
Fools incubate sin, cynics desecrate beauty
If you fall to pieces in a crisis, there wasn’t much to you in the first place...
Rescue the perishing; don’t hesitate to step in and help...someone is watching you closely, you know---someone not impressed with weak excuses
Eat honey...it is good for you...Likewise knowledge and wisdom for your soul...
Don’t interfere with good people’s lives...God-loyal people don’t stay down long

Don’t bother you head with braggarts...
 Fear God--respect your leaders
It’s wrong, very wrong to go along with injustice...an honest answer is a warm hug.  First plant your fields then build your barns...

Matthew 26:31 - 26:75 -
Then Jesus told then, “Before the night is over, you’re going to fall to pieces because of what happens to me.  There is a Scripture that says, I’ll strike the shepherd; helter-skelter, the sheep will be scattered.  But after I am raised up, I, your shepherd, will go ahead of you, leading the way to Galilee”...Peter protested, “ Even if I had to die with you, I would never deny you.”  All the others said the same thing.

Then Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane and told his disciples to stay here while he goes over there and pray.  Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he plunged into an agonizing sorrow....Stay here and keep vigil with me....When he came back to his disciples, he found them sound asleep....He said to Peter...”there is a part of you that is eager, ready for anything in God.  But there is another part that’s as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire.”  He then left them a second time, again he prayed to God .....“do it your way”  When he came back he again found them sound asleep...this time he let them sleep on, and went back a third time to pray, going over the same ground one last time...When he came back the next time, he said, Are you going to sleep on and make a night of it?

My time is up....my betrayer is here.  The words were barely out of his mouth when Judas showed up...He went straight to Jesus, greeted him, “How are you Rabbi?” and kissed him.  Jesus said. “Friend, why this charade?”  ...The gang seized Jesus and led him before Caiaphas, the Chief Priest...Peter followed at a safe distance until they got to the courtyard.  Then he slipped in and mingled with the servants...

The high priests tried to cook up charges, but even though many stepped up, making one false accusation after another, nothing was believable until 2 men came forward with this:  “He said, ‘ I can tear down this temple of God and after three days rebuild it.”  Jesus kept silent.  Then the Chief Priest said “I command you by the authority of the living God to say if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”  Jesus was curt:  “you yourself said it.  And that’s not all.  Soon you’ll see it for yourself:  The Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Mighty One, arriving on the clouds of heaven.”  At that, the Chief Priest lost his temper, ripped his clothes yelling, “He’s blasphemed!...” They all said “Death”....then they were spitting in his face and banging him around, jeering as they slapped him...

All this time, Peter was sitting out in the courtyard.  One servant girl came up to him and said, “you were with Jesus the Galilean.”  In front of everybody there, he denied it.  “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”  As he moved over toward the gate, someone else said to the people there, “this man was with Jesus the Nazerene.”  Again he denied it, salting his denial with an oath: “I swear I never laid eyes on the man.”  Shortly after that, some bystanders approached Peter.  “you’ve got to be one of them.  You’re accent gives you away.”  Then he got really nervous and swore.  “I don’t know the man!”  Just then a rooster crowed....
