Ezekiel 23-25
Wild with lust - story of two sisters, Oholah (Samaria) and Oholibah (Jerusalem) who spent their days whoring with the Assyrians and the Babylonians...  God said “because you have forgotten me, pushing me to the background, you must now pay for what you have done ....

To Ezekiel God said - Son of man, I’m about to take from you the delight of your life -- a real blow I know.  But please, no tears.  Keep your grief to yourself.  No public morning.  Get dressed as usual & go about your business...

I preached to the people in the morning.  That evening my wife died.  The next morning, I did as I was told.  The people all asked why he was acting like this.  He told them that God would also be desecrating His sanctuary, the delight of their lives, their heart’s desire....then you will do exactly as I have done, performing no funeral rites...

But your sins will eat away at you from within and you’ll groan among yourselves... Then you will recognize that I am God & then you will recognize that I am God (5 more x’s)

Acts 17:1-17:15
Paul & Silas then moved on eventually arriving at Thessalonica where there was a group of Jews.  Paul went to their meeting place & preached for 3 straight Sabbaths from the Scriptures.  Some of them were won over, including Greeks & quite a few women from the aristocracy.  But the hard-line Jews became furious & mad with jealousy so they sent an angry mob after Paul & Silas but arrested Jason & his family instead when they couldn’t find Paul & Silas

That night, supporters got Paul & Silas out of town & sent them to Berea where they again met with the Jewish community.  These Jews received Paul’s message with enthusiasm and met with him daily.  A lot of them became believers, including Greeks & women/men of influence.  But it wasn’t long before word got back to the hard-line Jews in Thessalonica who again sent a mob after them.  Paul gave them the slip and took a boat to Athens while Silas and Timothy initially stayed behind until Paul sent word back to them to “come as quickly as you can.”
