Song of Solomon - It contains exquisite love lyrics and it is very explicit sexually...The Song proclaims an integrated wholeness that is at the center of Christian teaching on committed, wedded love for a world that seems to specialize in loveless sex...the song is a convincing witness that men and women were created physically, emotionally and spiritually to live in love.

Song of Solomon 1-3
The Woman - Kiss me--full on the mouth!...Yes! For your love is better than vintage wine...I am weathered, but still elegant....Why should I be the one left out, outside the orbit of your tender care?

The Man - If you can’t find me...its all right.  Stay with your flocks...You remind me of Pharaoh’s well-groomed and satiny mares (Is that a good thing?) ... I’m making jewelry for you....that will mark and accent your beauty...

The Woman - My beloved is a bouquet of wildflowers.

The Man - Oh, my dear friend!  You’re so beautiful!  And your eyes so beautiful--like doves!

The Woman - And you, my dear lover--you’re so handsome!... As an apricot tree stands out in the forest, my lover stands above the young men in town...his left hand cradles my head, and his right arm encircles my waist!...  Don’t excite love, don’t stir it up, until the time is ripe---and you’re ready...My lover is like a gazelle, graceful like a young stag, virile...

The Man - ...Come my shy and modest dove--leave your seclusion, come out in the open...

The Woman - Restless in bed and sleepless through the night, I long for my lover.  I wanted him desperately.  His absence was painful... Don’t excite love, don’t stir it up, until the time is ripe---and you’re ready

James 2
Don’t let public opinion influence how you live out our glorious, Christ-originated faith...Isn’t it clear by now that God operated quite differently He chooses the world’s down-and-out as the kingdom’s first citizens....

You can’t pick and choose in these things, specializing in keeping one or two things of God’s law and ignoring others...do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything?

For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags & half-starved and say, “Good morning friend!  Be clothed in Christ!  Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup where does that get you.  Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?...

You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works.  Faith &  works, works & faith, fit together hand in glove....

Isn’t it obvious that faith and works are yoked partners, that faith expresses itself in works?  That the works are “works of faith”?...

It is the meshing of believing and acting that got Abraham named “God’s friend.”...Separate faith and works and you get the same thing--a corpse.
