Job 38-42 -  And now, finally, God answered Job from the eye of a violent storm.

God said, “Why do you confuse the issue? Why do you talk without knowing what you’re talking about?  Pull yourself together Job!... Where were you when I created the earth.  Tell me since you know so much!...That was me!...Speak up if you have even the beginning of an answer.......

God confronted Job directly:
“Now what do you have to say for yourself?  Are you going to haul me, the Mighty One, into court and press charges?

Job answered:  “I’m speechless, in awe---words fail me.  I never should have opened my mouth!  I’ve talked too much.  I’m ready to shut up and listen.”

God addressed Job next from the eye of the storm and this is what he said:
Do you presume to tell me what I’m doing wrong?  Are you calling me a sinner so you can be a saint?...I’ll gladly step aside and hand things over to you---you can surely save yourself with no help from me!...

If you can’t hold your own against a glowering visage (Leviathan -sea creature), how, then, do you expect to stand up to me?  Who could confront me and get by with it?  I am in charge of all this--I run the universe!.....
Job answered God:
“I’m convinced: you can do anything and everything....I admit it.  I was the one.  I babbled on about things far beyond me, made small talk about wonders way over my head...I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand---from my own eyes and ears!  I’m sorry--forgive me.  I’ll never do that again, I promise!  I’ll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor.”

After God finished addressing Job, he turned to Eliphaz and said,
“I’ve had it with you and your two friends.  I’m fed up!  You haven’t been honest either with me or about me--not the way my friend Job has.

So here is what you must do.
Take 7 bulls and 7 rams and go to my friend Job.  Sacrifice a burnt offering on your own behalf.  My friend Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer.  He will ask me not to treat you as you deserve for talking nonsense about me and for not being honest with me, as he has.”

They did it...and God accepted Job’s prayer.  After Job interceded for this friends, God restored his fortune--and then doubled it.

His family and friends told him how sorry they were, and consoled him for all the trouble God had brought him...

God blessed Job’s later life even more than his earlier life...He also had 7 sons and 3 daughters (Dove, Cinnamon & Darkeyes - their father treated them as equals with their brothers, providing the same inheritance).

Matthew 22:1-22:22 -
“God’s kingdom is like a king who threw a wedding banquet for his son.  He sent out servants to call in all the invited guests.  And they wouldn’t come...they only shrugged their shoulders and went off, one to weed his garden, another to work his shop.  The rest had nothing better to do, beat up on the messengers and then killed them. The king was outraged and sent soldiers to destroy those thugs and level their city.

Then the King told his servants, “We have a wedding banquet prepared but no guests.  The ones I invited weren’t up to it.  go out into the busiest intersections in town and invite anyone you find to the banquet”  The servants went out on the streets and rounded up everyone they laid eyes on, good and bad, regardless

When the king entered and looked over the scene, he spotted a man who wasn’t properly dressed. He said to him, “Friend, how dare you come in here looking like that!”  The man was speechless.  Then the king told his servants, “Get him out of here-- fast....That is what I mean when I say, “Many get invited; only a few make it.’”

That is when the Pharisees plotted a way to trap him into saying something damaging.  They sent their disciples , with a few of Herod’s followers mixed in to ask, “Teacher, we know you have integrity, teach the way of God accurately, are indifferent to popular opinion, and don’t pander to your students.  So tell us honestly:  Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?...Jesus said give Caesar what is his and give God what is his.  The Pharisees were speechless.  They went off shaking their heads.
